I don't know the seller, but I know the books. This guy has a set of 3 for $75 and you will be hard-pressed to find a better deal. I realize they are available digitally, but having hard copies is nice.

All,

How much different is the 3-volume edition from the 1947 2-volume edition?

Thanks, Robert

The Brookman 3-volume 1966 set has been digitized and is available from the US Philatelic Classics Society lectronic Library for free (but one ought not be a jerk, so becoming a member or making a donation would be the decent thing to do).

Oops. I just noticed that the OP mentioned the digital version. My bad.

Robert, I had to look it up myself. Brookman describes the difference between the printings this way:

Quote:
Introduction

It seems to us that this Introduction need not differ much from that of our "Nineteenth Century Postage Stamps of the United States", written and published in 1947, but now long out of print.

It should be understood that facts do not change and those that were accurately presented in our earlier writings are often repeated word for word here. We have made no changes for of the sake change or to try to give the impression that this work is entirely new from cover to cover. It is not nor could it be.

On the other hand, this book definitely is not a reprint. We have made a real effort to check every new bit of information that has come our way in the past 20 years. New facts discovered in that period have been added, necessary corrections have been made, and over 450 new illustrations have been incorporated in these 3 volumes.

We hope this work contains improvements over our previous writings that will prove to be of value and interest to collectors and students.
