As I was working on posting this stamp I realized I hadn't looked it up for identity. So I did.
This is Portuguese India. Turns out this perf down the center is intentional. From what I can tell from my 2008 Scott catalog this is either a #285 or a #285b. The difference being the center perf pattern.
This one appears to be the 285 version.
The b version shows a more steady perf pattern from top to bottom. Plus...the 285 CV is 25 cents. The b value is $550.00. The crow gets the 25 cents.

Unfortunately, the stamp(s) has only minimal value since it is no longer intact.

would you agree it's the #285 also?

I might use it to bookend a row of Portugal stamps.

It's hard to tell due to the stamp being separated into its two components. Being a semi-specialist in Portugal & Colonies, and member of the ISPP since 1991, I'd say it's unlikely that you would have 285b.

I don't have time right now to dig out my Portuguese colonial album, but I would have "turned cartwheels" a couple years ago if I actually had 285b. ;-)

I think it's the #285 because of the area under the 5 has that large perf and then no more under that.

From what I see in my Scott is a 285b having perfs all the way to the bottom. Also the catalog shows the 285b having equal sized holes top to bottom.

First time I've seen one of these, so it's kind of cool.
