Is there any way to find out the rarity factors of town and city cancels apart from buying a book for every province? Thanks

Was this some sort of a brain stumping question? 1 response is pretty pitiful. |

The response is bad because nobody here understands the subject line of this thread. |

Stamp collectors here are not aware that every province has a book on all the post offices that ever existed in the province and the rarity of the cancellations that come from certain post offices?
I had 1 person understand. Maybe a post looking for clarification of what I was after would have been nice. Not sure there is much help for a new collector available here.
Not sure how much more "succinct" I could be. The books are called post offices of,,,, alberta, B.C. Etc. either way, it does not appear that anyone is interested in assisting. The sad thing is my only transaction involved on this site was sending one of your members a bunch of free cancellations. I guess my interest here ends. |

I knew exactly what you were referring to. I just had no idea where to get that information for free. |

Beesee Thanks for the link. I'll look into it.
Smauggie Even by telling me you aren't aware of any other avenues helps a lot. Thank you again for taking the time to answer |

Alberta Stamper, I too would love to see a resource somewhere that comprehensively lists the rarity of Canadian cancels. The Library and Archives Canada site lists post offices but does not "grade" them for rarity. Often I will see that a cancel on a stamp or cover is a "rarity factor D" and I don't know how the seller knows this. I also would like to be able to check nicely cancelled stamps of my own for rarity, to offer them for sale to cancel specialists. There are web sites devoted to varieties and re-entries etc. - why not a single resource for post offices? |
