Learning here, I recently had this given to me it isn't full but I'd like to know about it. Does any one know? I don't even know the logo on the book. Thanks.

The logo on the first photo is the Canadian Coat of Arms.

Thanks! Its not completely full but I was told I have all the stamps to fill it. This is just a small portion. Theres probably 20-40 binders of books, I noticed one of first issues? I dont know the worth but I was told it could take atleast 6 hrs for this collection. What is the main books too look for. Now I mostly have canadian but I have stamps from all countries as well.

So this is all from different binders full of each of whats in each binder. This is just apart from a few. Finding the oldest stamp shall take some time to search. :-)

Dayna - why do you not want to receive emails through this forum? I and others I am sure - would prefer to chat with you directly. My comment - to start - is that you have a very mixed collection - with obviously very mixed values. The cheques with revenue stamps affixed are of limited value - but that is not to say that there might not be treasures. But the treasurers are more likely to be the banks involved than the stamps. Covers (envelopes with stamps on them) range from pennies to many dollars. They need to be assessed very carefully. As for the stamps - age / rarity / quality / condition / cancellations all have significance - so value is not something that can be determined easily or quickly.

Thanks, I have been going through it all day. Its just where to begin, I am thinking of finding someone to help me figure this out. I am completely new, I just don't even know what the items are in the photos. To me its just random letters, but I figure the watermarks are what are the reasons he kept the letters.

People don't ordinarily keep covs because of watermarks, gven the considerable difficulty of spotting watermarks on covers. They do so because the cove are attractive, or because they may carry more value than would the stamp separated from the cover.

Whether you need help depends on the time you can devote to this and the interest you have. But the starting point is to sit down with a Canadian stamp catalogue and familiarise yourself with the basic material. Relatively few stamps were issued by individual countries before WWIi, so it should be possible to get a reasonable sense of the Canadian material up to that point. Then you can start to sort through the stamps and get them into eras and sets.

Or you could put them back in the drawer for your old age!

I am currently trying to devote time. I have a 1 yr old and a full time job so making time can be an issue. I have a catalogue but its 1995, which is old but he did purchase a new one before he passed but they haven't found it yet, still going through his personals yet. I can't leave this for a few years either I just don't have the space Im talking totes and totes of binders, envelopes and books. Trying to look through each stamp but they aren't named so it's difficult to look for on google. I was just wondering if someone had an idea of what the items are and how I can look them up online. I was also looking for a website besides Wikipedia that helps with stamps because I can't seem to find some stamps on it. Thanks :-)

Trying to sort material via the web sounds horrible. It's much easier to sit down with the catalogue - it doesn't matter if it's out of date. I'd try to group the Queen Victoria, Edward VII, George V and George VI issues first. That's reasonably manageable because there aren't that many of them. Then you'll get a better handle on what you have.

Canada Stamp, I don't think Dayna is at fault for being unable to receive email. Isn't every newbie blocked from receiving SCF email until a certain number of posts?

Perhaps you should consider going to a local stamp club, and see if someone could provide some basic advice on what to do next. Or put into a banker's box, go to a stamp dealer and get an opinion on how much he/she is prepared to offer.
