Hi guys...Got this Xmas card with a bunch of stuff at a stamp auction..This Xmas card has a cancellation and stamp inside the Xmas card..Now, either they opened up the card or these cards can be bought like this..Anyone seen this before..?

And does this mean the envelope that it came with also had a stamp..Twice the cost..?
Robert

I've seen those before. I think the cards were printed flat, stamps were affixed and postmarked, then the scored cards were folded as in a traditional Christmas card. There are machines that can do this (i.e. fold the scored cards) at lightning speed.

There is no cost for a stamp used in this manner by postal services - aside from the cost of paper and ink: .0000000001 cents.

Does not seem a lot different than sending an FDoI souvenir card, for example, thru the mail.

You'd have the stamped & cancelled item within a stamped & cancelled cover, nu?

Cheers,

I have something similar, but not a Christmas stamp, this is a stamp with one of the train series. I have scanned the front & back, then the inside left and right plus the insert that was printed in English and French.

Here are two from Australia, so they must be fairly standard

In Australia Santa rides a duck??!

I'm thinking he ought to check with headquarters. In case he's forgotten, (and that would not surprise me given the duck) headquarters is in Canada - postal code H0H 0H0

Santa is riding a local Christmas Island Frigatebird, whose red pouch has rendered Rudolph redundant.
