Hi,
Over a week ago I purchased a Scotts International 5 album set (parts 1-5) from an estate sale in California. Obviously I'm pretty anxious to get my hands on them.

The auction house (good rep) boxed them up and got the to the Post Office the next day. They are being sent parcel post, but with a tracking number.

Well, it took 3 days before an update appeared when I checked the tracking number. It read "Mis-sent to Fort Worth". As I'm in Houston, that was not good news.

The next day, the "Mis-sent to Fort Worth" was deleted and "Arrived at Fort Worth" was in its place.

It's been 3 business days, and no further activity shows on the tracking number.

I've been here before, but it always seems that the "lost" object is boxed stamp albums or the like which seems a bit ironic to me.

Does stuff like this happen to you, or am I just being picked upon?

I have seen several packages that I was either waiting for or had sent that took some very strange detours. It can be pretty unnerving.

I don't think you are being picked on, Mobilman. It happens to all of us every now and then and right now I can definitely relate to your frustration. I am waiting on a stamp that was mailed to me from Long Island NY on Monday 1/26 and the tracking system shows that today (Saturday 1/31) it has made it all the way to New York City! Now I know the weather up there has been terrible and I am sure that has played a part in the lack of much progress so far, but it still gives one angst when this happens. Luckily, it doesn't happen very often and I hope you get your shipment soon! By the way, I am also in Texas; do you think there is a conspiracy theory in here somewhere (lol)?

We sent a package from California to Ohio...

It went to Honolulu, then Guam, back to Honolulu,
then to San Francisco, then Indiana, then Ohio...

That's USPS... it's s double-edged sword...

Mobilman44, one thing you can do is go to the post office. Supposedly their tracking system works better then the one we use?

Mobilman, it happens on this side of the pond as well. Twice in the last 6 weeks I have had auction houses send a package to the wrong address. Fortunately both packages had tracking numbers and I have the stamps after anxious waiting. I have lost a couple of things in the post as well, both posted internationally. Both had tracking numbers, both made it to the UK but then disappeared at the Heathrow Airport sorting offices.

Well, after over a week stuck in Fort Worth, someone decided to send it to Dallas, and the good folks at Dallas sent it "out" yesterday - hopefully south to the Houston area. Seeing that update was a relief, but I'll feel better when/if it arrives on my doorstep. Yikes, I sure hope the sender packaged it well!

Well, my shipment is evidently taking an extended stay in New York City, having arrived there on 1/31 after the long, 5-day trip from Long Island! Guess it decided to take in a Broadway show or two while there! No further tracking info yet.

Yeehaaa! The postman just brought the box (40lbs) and it was in excellent shape. Parts 1 and 2 have lots of stamps and obviously used. But parts 3, 4, and 5 are "new". No stamps, no signs of wear - just age. I'll be putting the "new" ones on ebay, and after I go through parts 1 & 2 will put them on as well.

Goodness, I pictured them to be all beat up, but they are just fine!

The above situations all seem to refer to merchandise orders via the USPS. How about just a simple letter sent to the PMG via Express Mail that didn't arrive on time -- at least they got their $19.99 postage back:

Just to finalize my experience, my shipment did arrive on 2/5, so not bad overall having been mailed on 1/26. Just interesting that it spent half the travel time (from Long Island NY to Texas) in New York state.
