No, I actually missed that one. Haven't been paying as close attention to ebay as I normally do as of late.

According to Eric's site, the W&Co cancel is Wilkins & Co., Canned Food, Balt.; like some other canned food cancels there are a large number of remainders. This is because the tax did not last very long (Oct 1, 1866-March 2, 1867).

Based purely on personal observation -- which admittedly is not as expansive as that of some others -- the Wilkins cancel seems to be much more scarce than the Ruth & Fleming. Very nice block, southpaw!

Oh yeah, the Ruth & Fleming is quite common, and can be found in large remainder multiples.

Yes - I have several Ruth & Fleming multiples, but this is my first W&Co. Thanks Bart for the Wilkins identification.

Both can be found in large multiples, it is probably just about as common, it just depends on what one happens to see at a given time.

A few pick-ups from the Columbia SC show saturday. These all came from the same dealer and priced as normal revs.

Never thought I'd find a Matthew Brady cancel

Wow, southpaw. The Brady and the Pacific Steamship "Alaska" are super finds at non-premium prices!

Very nice! That ALASKA PMSS cancel is well struck.

Now that you have the Brady script, you now need to find the matching Washington script... much tougher.

I'm not holding my breath on the Washington cancel. But you never know, stranger things have happened. BTW, will any of you revenue guys planning to attend the Southeastern Expo in Atlanta this weekend?

I'm determined to make the Chicago show next November but, as it stands now, that's the only long-distance stamp traveling I'll be able to do this year.
