Hehehe... hey, if enough people openly call it that, it might stick.

The Dr Fitler's is a very rare cancel. I have only seen one other. I traded it about 35 years ago and received about 30 really nice printed cancels in return.

Very cool! I've never seen either of the bottom two. Is the negative "T" (?) identified?

I had never seen one before, which is why I bid on it even though the stamp is munged. Additionally unusual in that the price of the product is part of the cancel, so serving the secondary function of a price label (not sure if that was the actual intent, but that's what it appears).

Not that I know of. Most monogram cancels remain unattributed. Most likely photographer or proprietary of some sort.

All three of the above cancels came from the most recent Aldrich auction.

That Jessup is superb! Haven't run into that one before. I also like the Boston Beer Co.

Fort Stanwix Bank is a cancel seen regularly, with a lot of fairly early dates.

Thanks for the info. I am usually after the date, not the canx itself and so normally don't pay too much attention to the canx or whether it is trimmed, etc. That said, I do upgrade my canx for specific dates when I run across them.

Time for some new cancels... a bit overdue actually.

Would have been interesting to see these on complete document, not just for the cancel, but the fractional cent rate.

Hadn't seen the Thomas N Dale shield cancel on a 3-center before.

Unattributed stencil cancel.

I've seen this H. J. Jacoby script handstamp several times on 1-centers but this is the first time I've seen it on a 2-cent denomination.

Fairly scarce dashed rim handstamp.

I'd like to see this on a full document.

Finely written manuscript cancel, this variant not shown in Tolman.

Large format legal cancel.

I've seen straight line cancels from this bank, but this is the first time I've seen the 'ORDER FOR COLLECTION' variant.

Very unusual. Perhaps they ran out of 1-cent or 3-cent stamps and opted for this over bisecting? It would have defrauded the government though.

Bright green cancel, presumably a numeric bank clearing house?

Triangular cancel with stylized 'PARIS'. It looks like a merchant or bank cancel. I'd love to see the original document to obtain context.

Not only an interesting large format tobacco manufacturer (Duncan & Hanna) cancel, but the stamp has a nice DT at bottom right.

Scarce company.

Very scarce patent medicine boxed cancel 'USE DR. TOBIAS VENETIAN LINIMENT'.
