It's somewhat hard to see, but on the side of the oval opposite "Penn. Station" is "P.F.W. & C. RY." -- Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne & Chicago Railway (Tolman P-11C).

I have not seen one lighter that did not seem faded, but it's always tough to see shades exactly on a PC.

It's definitely not a light application of color either. It is a very nice impression with "thick" ink.

I found this one interesting. Picked it up yesterday...
Struck out though with the Google search.

Groon & Co., a playing card importer.

As a general rule, negative cancels (design and/or letteringmade out of white space rather than the inked area) are quite scarce; this one particularly so.

Regarding the magenta script cancel, it's unusual. I've seen similar things, but not this exact one. The magenta handstamp alost looks out of place, as if an errant owner's handstamp was applied after the face (although one would do so on the face of a stamp I have no idea; would have to be accidental). Without context (or a second example turning up), it's tough to determine.

Neat though!

That's true - never thought about an owners stamp. R46 is a pretty common stamp - maybe it was a goof - or a test. Sickel came up with a search of Allegheny Trust, but not C. A. Sickel.

Here are a couple more from the weekend. Has anybody heard of the US Loan Commission of New York County?

New York County is of course Manhattan (actually the second smallest county by area in the US).

Sorry I haven't posted more lately, summer vacation was nice. Just picked up a few cancels in a revenue collection, I'll post as I scan them.

here are a couple of photographer cancels, and one I really love on an RB14b. I don't know who G and R may be. Can anybody tell me?

Don't know about the proprietary, but the other two are Gill's City Gallery of Lancaster, PA and W.M. Knight of Buffalo, NY.
