I really like the idea of keeping a want list on my iPad. If anyone else is doing this, can you tell me what software your are using?

I use StampManage to keep a PDF file of my Want List. This includes a picture and description of the stamp, as I have found that the Scott number itself may not be useful at times. Good luck. |

I am using Evernote. I keep the want list and photo copies of relevant catalog pages together. Best part is that it will also be available on your PC and phone |

I also use Evernote.
I like to include images and auction results in my 'want' list. Then I can quickly see if the price/quality is right next time an item shows up. |

Took a look at the Evernote app. Won't install on older iPads, unfortunately. |

Geoff,
What iPad/IOS are you using?
I use IOS 7 on iPad2 without any problems. |

If you use something like Google Docs spreadsheets (or Microsoft's Office Live) - You can update / maintain / and view your want list from anywhere / any device

I think an underlying issue is whether you will have Internet connectivity at all times.
If you will always have connectivity, you can use apps that keep your data in the cloud. But if you'll be in places, shops, bourses, etc., where you can't connect, you will obviously need a "local" list on your iPad.
Cloud is easy: Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc.

Cloud is easy: Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc. If you pay for Evernote, then you can have offline access. Problem I have with that is, I want to pay for something ONCE. I don't want yet another recurring monthly subscription. I believe OneNote is free, but needs online access at all times. And there is no OneNote support for Linux. It would be great of StampManage or one of the other apps had a companion tablet app. |

I think I have found my solution, I installed the Google Sheets app on my iPad. It has the option to "keep on device" any spreadsheet I pin. I think that may be the way to go. Least amount of effort and cost. |

Just to clarify: OneNote does not need online access all the time, only to sync between, say, your mobile device and your laptop or home computer.
I use OneNote not for my stampwants but rather for my shopping lists -- I have them set up by store, so that when I'm near or in that store, I know what I need there. My version came with the Home version of Office 2010, so it is a paid version. I'm not sure if other versions have a more strict connectivity requirement.
For wantlists, I don't have an extensive one set up, but I do have a modest one. It's in Excel, created on my laptop but kept in my Dropbox folder, so it stays current. When I get ready to go to a stamp show, I make sure that I've downloaded the most recent version of that file to my phone. I can then update it at the show, and then later on, back at home, sync it back to my laptop so that I have a current copy on both devices.
It sounds like the Google app might perform the same functionality for you.

I've been trying for years to like OneNote. There's something about it that I just don't like. I like Evernote a great deal. I just think the subscription is way too expensive. I don't think it's worth $5.00/month. |

I agree with you on both points. It seems like OneNote ought to be more powerful by now, and it seems cumbersome in some ways. But one can use it almost immediately, and it seems to nicely accept any kind of text, data or image pasted into it without grumbling. At the time I made a choice between Evernote and OneNote (and some other options that I don't think exist today), EverNote had some real limitations (including the fee to view it offline). But it has grown enormously since then, and is clearly a very widely-used choice among the major options these days. As part of my New Year's resolutions I had planned to spend some time with it again, including possibly paying the fee, but it turns out I've had to start mastering some other new software recently, so that's been put off for a while longer, since I can get by with my current apps in the meantime.

And, as successful as Evernote is, it does not support templates. I was quite excited when Evernote Food came out. Then I found out, all it does is filter out any notes that aren't food related. |

I'm using iPad 1, which doesn't like most IOS updates - IOS 7 is too far for it!

I keep mine in a Google spreadsheet. I can access it from any device with internet access, including my phone. I can email the link to dealers who can view my want list in real time, as opposed to a printed list which will be out of date before long. |
