Hi,

Long ago I had come across some Pages of Old Old book.
though it was written in Arabic.. scanned and kept. Is it collectible.
Either it is explanation of some mathematics or Poem.
To me looks it would be interesting in which period that is written.
to me looks mostly 15th century. But I may be wrong.
I also know that from 9th to 15th century there many well known
Polymaths.

Note: I do know Persian, Arabic and Urdu ... but to the extent
making out slowly can not understand meanings of Arabic.

Can you upload some scans to the forum? There are a few Arabic speakers among the members.

Fig 1

in fig.1
line 1. Va ghal bus sabeiye yurud kul taqweeye jumla va ya farad

In late eighties my friend had few pages of this manuscript.
I had Scanned and kept. I was lazy not to take India and get translated. In India there are masters in Arabic,Urdu and Persian.
to me look like book for grammar or Critique on some book.
writing of this looks like late 1800 probably.

Thanks. It looks really nice. I can read a bit of the script and it doesn't make too much sense. Maybe Farsi?

After consulting with some friends of mine, it seems it is a summary of grammar rules but summarised in poetry. It is probably written as a learning aid rather than a teaching aid because it is in common script rather than in classical Arabic i.e. missing most of the diacritical marks), suggesting that it might be some personal hand-written notes. This accounts for the writing at odd angles, as you guessed.

Hi Tim,

I think before consulting friend what you said it may be Farsi
(Persian) No this is Arabic. I will also agree that these two pages
are probably related to teach student Arabic Grammar.
In Poetry style with Grammar and Behar (Failun,Falun,Falatun etc.)
Behar's mostly related with Poetries in Arabic, Farsi ,Urdu ,Pasto
and Turkish language. Also in other languages too Rhyme as such.

It would be nice to know exact meaning of these lines with Explanation
which are written in small writings. angles looks related to line
of Poetry.
This way writing is way before these writers started explanation in
the Borders of page by numbering. Borders in these books were quite
wide. almost 1.5" to 2" mostly for Tafseer writing (Critiques) for
any book or literature.

thanks nice to talk to you
