I normally stay far away from political discussions, but have to comment on this one.

Canada does so to prevent them from coming to our homeland, such as WWI and WWII. Also, when innocents are being raped, kidnapped, maimed and killed, someone has to stop the carnage.

It's important to look at the development of the Avro CF-105 Arrow within its historical context. At that time, Canada had the home-grown Avro CF-100 Canuck in service (introduced 1952, retired 1981), so developing a modern jet fighter to eventually replace the CF-100 made sense. Unfortunately, the cancellation of the Arrow had a significant impact on the aviation industry in Canada. Many Avro engineers went to work in the UK and US aeronautical industries and NASA. As for the performance of the Arrow, Wikipedia states "With specifications comparable to then-current offerings from American and Soviet design bureaus, at the time of its cancellation, the Arrow was considered by one aviation industry observer to be one of the most advanced aircraft in the world".

Lets set the story straight...it was NOT the USA that put pressure on Canada to stop the arrow production...It was NOT the political pressure from the Diefenbaker government to stop production..Read your history...half way through the production of the arrow, secret documents were released that KGB had infiltrated the AVRO workforce and many documents were stolen and passed on to Russia..The immediate response was to destroy all 5 or 6 arrows that had been complete..There is only ONE nose cone left from the arrow that is on display today at the link below...Remember the arrow was 2 generations ahead of anything Russia or USA had in its arsenal.

The R.C.M.P . produced leaked document information to the government and the makers of the arrow...It what I have came across and if it is wrong then there is some one reputable that has ALL his facts wrong...What is your story..??

Just read all that in Wikipædia. There is still quite a controversy about it.

We seem to have lost sight of the fact that the four stamps were prematurely celebrating unsuccessful Canadian designs.

Speaking of "somewhat failed" Canadian aircraft on stamps, #905 pictured the C-102 Avro Canada Jetliner. Only one got off the ground. Billed at the time as the world's first jetliner, it was actually the world's 2nd as the DeHaviland-Armstrong Comet beat it by 13 days.

Also, I am wondering if the tank is a failed Canadian design..??
