That begs the question: Is there a catalog for British (or other country) perfins? Otherwise, how does one establish scarcity or value?

A list of publications regarding GB perfins can be found here...

An updated basic catalog (it is published in alphabetical sections over numerous years) would cost around £120 for UK residents. A full catalog with all the available details and illustrations would cost around £270 if all sections are bought.

Older catalogs do appear in the likes of ebay but are quite expensive.

The GB perfins catalog does not provide value or scarcity data. Probably the best that can be said about valuations is that perfins decimate the Scott/Gibbons values of the underlying GB stamps. There are exceptions - but they usually occur because the underlying stamp is popular - like the 'penny red'. The GB perfin scene is so large and complex we are probably a decade away from understanding what is really scarce.

As chasa has mentioned, the value of most perfins is below that of a "whole" stamp... with some notable exceptions e.g the early ones and a few others. To dedicated perfin collectors there are many that are of considerable value but, perhaps, for the casual collector there is mainly interest in tracking down any information on the ones they have.

I believe nigelc might have the relevant data on some or all of your perfins ... probably excluding values... as an old Tomkins perfin catalog has been quoted successfully in the past.

With the prohibitive cost of an up-to-date catalog, I collect and collate mentions and examples of identified perfins from all sources... such as SCF (thanks to nigelc, online perfin auction lists and the GB perfin society web site.
You could try entering the known perfin details (stamp and letters in the perfin) in Google and you may come up with identities occasionally.
