Hello everybody!
I have recently dicovered stampworld, and the best feature I think it has, in comparison with other sites, is that each stamp has a value, as commercial catalogues, like scott, michel or Yvert.
What do you think about the values in stampworld? Are they higher, lower, better,....than michel, yvert,....
Is it focused on an specific european/american public?
Thank you very much in advance.

Haven't personally been to the site but do they state what "grade" their values are based on ? Scott lists their values for stamps with a VF grade. Pricing Stamps will always be a moving target because condition is everything. I see way to many sellers quoting catalog values for a stamp that is atrociously centered, flawed or otherwise not VF which simply is wrong.

I can only speak with authority about Stampworld listings of the Indian States.

They're farcical, and the prices quoted are a joke. Some of them, I'd be delighted to sell at; some of them, I'd be delighted to buy at, but they're hardly ever accurate.

The listings themselves are quite uselessly simplified and unreliable. They have one Barwani stamp illustrated with a forgery, for example.

I tend to use Stampworld as one of many reference points for stamps, and then only if I have a gap in my catalogue cover. It is useful for this. Prices? As good as the person who entered them, given that we don't know their source. As Tony points out, some are a joke. Better to use the regular catalogues for representative market values. I have never bought or sold through them.
