I'm having a bit of a problem typing these Sacramento stamps. According to the PSS catalog, my choices are 61, 71, 122, 205, 236, 259 or 846. I have about 6 stamps with this precancel.

I know they are not #61 or #71.
#122 and 205 have a letter height of 3mm, so they are out.
# 259 has a city and state space of 1mm, so that is out
And # 846 uses the two letter state abbreviation.
This leaves #236, however the example in the PSS catalog shows a coma after the city.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Type 236. (Variations exist with and without commas.)

In fact, I just thumbed through my precancels for Sacramento and none of the Type 236's have commas.

See Note 1 at the bottom of page 10 of the 7th edition Town & Type catalog. This means for types 232 to 254 some cities will have different punctuation than shown in the picture. So, the ID's in your scan are correct. (concurring with WT1)
