I was going through my Australian duplicates today and noticed this KGV watermark.

It is Scott's #25 with a watermark #9. What I am wondering is, if it is uncommon to have the watermark with a border? Or, is this just a first stamp on a sheet where the watermarks started? The watermark, if looking at the face, runs up the left side and then across the top.

Thank you

Chimo

It's from the edge of the sheet. The watermark on the edge has the line plus the paper manufacturer. You occasionally find them with letters on the edge.

" The watermark on the edge has the line plus the paper manufacturer ".

It's not the watermark manufacturer, then wording is in large letters. COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA ".

Thanks Pagoda, I get confused which countries use the maker's mark and which used the country. :)
