Today's Google Doodle celebrates the 155th Anniversary of the Pony Express.

Click on it, and an animated gif ...

Certainly the most famous respected short lived failed business in American history.

As to the 'short lived', it seems to be in a dead heat with Mr Ponzi, who also ran ~18 months.

When we were lads, everyone learned about The Pony Express in school.

Thanks to Mr Madoff, I think Ponzi is better known, today.

Not much of an improvement, that.

Cheers,

The Pony Express was not a fraud, Ponzi schemes are. No comparison.

How many US stamps honoring the pony express are there?

I have three: 113, 894, 1154 (plus 2780 has a pony express rider on it). I can't find any others.

Correction: And I just saw that 947 also has a pony express rider on it.

Only 894 and 1154 are considered Pony Express stamps, 113 is just a post rider. Plus the Wells Fargo Pony Express stamps themselves of course (143L1-143L5, 143L7-143L9)
