Some Thing To Be Added To Unitrade 2016 Catalouge.

Hi guys..I was in deep conversation with a gentlemen named Jim Watt, and if you know stamps (Canada), you will recognize his name and expertise..He was telling me that a lot of the starter/finish strips on flowered coil stamps has a variety/error that will be addressed in the next Unitrade issue in 2016...He told me to go home and check mine..Ok, so I have a strip of 14 coils with 2 Scott #2187i included..

Sorry to say I did not have a "die cut gauge" in my possession..So I did the next best thing...I used a "SCREEN PIXEL RULER" to measure the number of hollows and the distances (percentage wise) between them...He is correct, there is a heck of a lot of perforation differences between stamps.

Below is the strip and below that is a chart showing the number of pixels between hollows..I was impressed to say the least.

I find the information in the Unitrade Canada catalogue on pages 22 to 23 on these Lowe-Martin coils to be very interesting. Robin Harris who is the editor of the Unitrade Canada catalogue is doing a very detailed ongoing study on these Lowe-Martin coils on his website at http://adminware.ca/LoweMartin/index.htm where there is a .pdf file on them that can be dowloaded from there.

Well..That is a great PDF..Guess I will stop my investigation into perf differences..

I'm not sure where you are getting your "information" from. There are no plans that I am aware of to add any additional information or listings to the 2016 edition of the Unitrade catalogue with regards to the Lowe-Martin produced die cutting varieties.

Neither you or Dr. Watt are on the Unitrade editorial committee and do not know the plans for the catalogue. I respectively ask that you do not post comments about the catalogue that are simply not true.

Well, you know what Robin..I misplaced my words ( as usual ), I was informed that this person was going to contact you or some one in your organization to talk about the flowered coils, not just the ones I showed..

From now on your catalogue will be mentioned by me in a manner that does not get people mad at collectors trying to give/supply information...I can see you still are not forgetting our last run in...If I don't hear or have you comment on any of my posts in the future, I will not loose any sleep over it..Good day.

And I respect Dr. Watt as a person who gives his time to stamp collecting..He is a fantastic person. and a has the ability to go way beyond my expertise for the good of this great hobby.

Dr. Watt calls me from time to time to discuss new finds and possible listings for the Unitrade catalogue. I respect his knowledge and opinions very much. I am looking forward to meeting him (again) at the upcoming Royal stamp show in London, Ontario at the end of May. He and I have had great one-on-one philatelic conversations over the past decade - he is a walking encyclopedia for certain issues.

[There is one particular variety (on the 7c Paul Kane stamp) that he has discovered and we have discussed the last couple of times we have met that I am still trying to confirm to get listed and illustrated in the catalogue - I'll try again in London. If that doesn't work out perhaps you can get a scan of the variety to pass along - it would be most appreciated.]

Yes jogil..That is him..I was talking to him Monday and he never mentioned he had it completed...Good stuff, thanks for the link.

I get an error after loading the pdf and have to close it. Is this happening to anyone else?
