Hi guys..Was looking at this Scott #36 Small Queen with this 3 ring cancel from Toronto I think..Could not find out anything about those tight 3 ring cancel on the internet..The closest I came is the 3 ring picture below..Need some help.

Wert, they are mentioned in the Unitrade Catalogue in the section before you get to the provinces and before the Christmas seals section. They are given a RF (Rarity Factor), not a dollar value. Toronto, being a large city, isn't as rare of course. I am not sure if there are any specific publications dedicated to the study of them?

Hi Wert,

Your cancel is an 'Orb' cancel as can be see more clearly on a larger stamp.

The "orb" cancel is quite different than the four ring pictured above and marked as a 3 ring. I believe the orb cancel is meant for larger mail but I believe quite common for the late 1890's period.

You are right that the 4 ring cancels are scarce to rare on Small Queen stamps. Unitrade doesn't mark the Rarity Factor these on Large or Small Queens but they are special and are desirable to collectors of postmarks.
