How To Scan A Watermark?

I need to show a watermark on this forum. I know how to check a watermark with fluid. Do I attempt to scan the stamp quickly before the fluid drys? That doesn't sound right. Tips please.

You should always place the stamp against a black background to increase the contrast.

I wonder if placing the wet stamp in a plastic sleeve would help prolong the fluid duration, and keep the scanner dry, in order to get a decent scan.
