Identify L/T And Tt Stamps On 78 RPM Phonograph Records

Has anyone ever seen these sort of stamps before? They are affixed to old-time 78 RPM records from the 1930s or 1940s that were made in England. Could it be some kind of copyright or usage stamp from that period?

This goes back to World War II. The government introduced high 'purchase tax' on certain items, to raise money for the war effort. They issued stamps like these to retailers, to stick to the records, indicating the current rate of tax payable. The L/T stamps indicates a record with 50 percent tax added, the TT one means a whopping 100 percent tax.

Interesting. Thanks very much for the link. I knew there had be a reason for it, but was surprised to learn of the big taxes that were levied on such things.
