Canada 1990-S And 2000-S Quarterly Packs?

Do Canada Post sealed quarterly packs from the 1990s and early to mid 2000s have any value other than as postage? Looking at completed listings on ebay, I am seeing some of them sell for very high percentages of face, and some of them for considerably above face.

Why? Did some of them have stamps not available through other channels?

I just bought a large lot of worldwide mint sets (primarily Canada, Great Britain, Israel, United Nations, Switzerland, greece, and Cyprus), and the Canada portion contains quite a few sealed quarterly packs.

Canada Post put die cut singles from pressure-sensitive gummed booklets into the Annual Collections and Quarterly Packs. These stamps are die cut completely through the stamp and the booklet's back cover and are a separate collectible not available anywhere else. Unitrade catalogs them at double the value of a normal die cut stamp. If souvenir sheets of a multi-stamp issue were also issued along with booklets, then Canada Post put the souvenir sheet into the Pack/Collection instead of the individual booklet stamps.

Yes, for the "completionist", these packs are the only way.

Also, some of us collect (or collected?) Canada Post stamp "products" as a sideline. I gave that up a few years ago due to the ridiculous program of releases (quantity, primarily) coinciding with my realizing that my completion-ist illness was slowly being cured. I still buy the packs to get die-cut versions of the Christmas stamps, but that's it. I use the rest for postage.
