My father in law gave me a small pile of small stamps and I can't seem to figure out just what they are.
He got them during the Korean war, he can't remember North or South cause of the chaos of everything and the huge amount of erratic traveling his group did. They came from a bank vault that was blown open in search of hidden weapons and all they found were tons of small sheets of stamps, about the size of the smaller Dune SS that are so common, with Korean money values on them. They are tiny, rectangualar without any decoration.
Would anyone here have heard about Korean stamp money? Ration stamps? Any idea why they'd have been locked in a bank vault?
I'm going to scan in some pics as soon as possible.
Once you get the scans we can possibly give more information. There were both postal use and fiscal use stamps in Korea prior to the war, and being in a bank instead of a post office they are likely some of the fiscals.
Yep, Bill. I'm leaning towards fiscals, I just can't find any info. might have to search deeper. Once I find the box with the photo album they're in I"ll be scanning.
