Could any one help me identify the country of these two stamps and their issue date?

They are from Japan. The chrysanthemum is one of the identifying features on older Japan stamps. I don't have a catalog handy, so I can't provide issue dates.

Right stamp is #97 Violet-brown 1899-1907.

Left stamp is Gen Togo #331, brown-lake 1942-1945
