[]THE IMAGE HEREIN depicts a used Canada Scott™ No.161 King George V "Scroll" issue coil stamp with a unique SOTN partial cancel revealing the image of an aeroplane. NEED TO KNOW: Was there an officially documented 'first day of issue' recorded for the use of this cancel? In short, any information whatsoever that can shed light as to why Canada Post adopted and endorsed the use of an aeroplane on this Canadian stamp in 1929, close to nine decades ago, would be helpful?
The complete slogan reads SAVE TIME / USE AIR MAIL with the airplane in the middle. I don't know when it was first used but it was common from the late 1920s and early 1930s with it being used in many Canadian cities. I'm sure the cancels are listed in the Slogan Cancel catalog.
