Hi guys...Take a look at this cover of 2 NFLD stamp and one Canadian stamp on a cover with a 1950 cancel....Why would anyone place a NFLD stamp on a cover at that date..??...2 years after Confederation..?? Robert   |

Were they still valid for postal use? People will use anything, especially that close to the change. |

Newfoundland stamps are still valid as postage to the best of my knowledge.

Newfoundland stamps are still valid for postage in Canada and I have a few covers even later (1968 for example).
10 cents is 10 cents after all.

Tommy..It is funny you should say that..As far as I know, before NFLD entered confederation it was classified as another country...??
Wouldn't that be like me say putting German stamps on a cover in Canada and expect it to be mailed..?? |

Hi Wert
It was part of the agreement when Newfoundland entered into Confederation that their stamps would still be valid for postage. (So, I have been told)
