I have been using these for some time. I have some collections with most of the stamps hinged and use these on pages with large pieces such as souvenir sheets, it helps them stay mounted.
I am noting lately the protectors seem to have a lot of static qualities. When leafing through the static on the back of the page using them tends to cause stamps on the next page to adhere and be pulled off. It is getting to be a major problem.
Has anyone else noted this? Is there something I can do to get the static charge out of these? I wonder if it may be weather related, or what? It occurs that I could just place a glassine inter leaf after each such page but that seems to be something that should be unnecessary. Any ideas?
There are anti-static sprays that can be purchase and work very well for removing ESD from paper documents. But please note I am uncertain if the spray is 'archive safe', please read and test before committing to doing a large amount of pages. I am about 95% sure that you could treat the protector pages outside of the album, allow to dry, and then insert the page back into the album without any problems. I might be leery about trying to spray the pages directly in the album. But in terms of eliminating the electrostatic charge that is building up on the current pages, it will work. Don
