I hesitate to encourage what I consider an expensive and unnatural habit, but the current Lockdales (GB auction house) catalogue has a number of Zeppelin-themed stamps and covers. Not cheap, though! http://www.lockdales.com/auctions.htmlStamps run from number 1673-2057 in the catalogue. Geoff

I WAS thinking of you, as it happens!
These people are long-established. I think coin dealers originally, but have branched out into stamps, cards etc. I usually buy cigarette cards from them, as I can never find much in the philatelic section!

Welllll, it is two days after payday. Anddd I have put in overtime recently... I might have to figure out how to bid in that auction.
I'm actually intrigued by the GB flight with the seahorse stamp.

Ah, the Great British plagiarists. Not sure what they did to deserve a stamp ... |

Quote: Here's one that's pretty reasonably priced. Do you mean reasonable concicering that it is a printing error, that was actually the 4th and not the 1st Led Zeppelin album cover? |

17.25% buyers premium, plus additional charges if I bid live online and also for using a credit card. So, at least 20% added to any winning bid I might make. Even if I won an item, I would have some buyers remorse. Unless of course, I scored one really cheap. That's unlikely. |

Yes, the add-ons are nasty, especially if you forget them in the excitement of the chase. I don't usually use the saleroom.com live option (where it's available), but send a commission bid instead. Of course, these carry their own risks - typing late at night, transpose digits, and hey presto, you've won a German WWI helmet not the stock-book of stamps you had in mind. And the increased prevalence of charges for credit card use - across all sorts of businesses in GB - means my credit card is largely restricted to Amazon these days. Geoff |

You air mail-fanciers must have deep pockets. The GB Zeppelin cover went for £160, the German South America flight pair for £120, Polar Flight trio for £210 and the Chicago Flight trio for £280. The US items went for £95 (Pan America with 65c) and £170 (South American route with $1.30). The one I rather liked, the Iceland cover, was a snip at £80.
I have just a little buyer's remorse myself after picking up three lots of cigarette cards!
