Here is the text of an email I sent to Vermont Philatelic Society members:
(1) North Chester used at least 2 different Circular Date Stamps in the 1880s that had the full word "VERMONT" at the bottom. However, one of the CDSs had the wording "NORTH CHESTER" and the other "NO. CHESTER"
The "NORTH CHESTER" cancel was used until at least June 25, 1883 while the "NO. CHESTER" cancel was being used by November 5, 1887.
I am trying to find out the latest date seen of "NORTH CHESTER" and the earliest date seen of "NO. CHESTER"/
(2) Gassett's Station's Post Office name was changed to Spafford on November 28, 1887. However, in the Vermont Philatelist (May 1992), there is an illustration of the old Gassetts Station postmark being used on December 6, 1887. Since the postmaster was probably waiting for the new Spafford postmark, I would like to ask if anyone else has Gassetts Station postmarks after December 6, 1887.
On a related matter what is the earliest Spafford postmark? The earliest date that I have recorded is December 12, 1888. That leaves little over a year between the above two December dates.
I have placed scans of the cancels at
