Prexies

I don't see the photo in my post. Does anyone see it? Maybe I did not upload it correctly.

No, it didn't show up. Most likely, you uploaded it correctly, but got an error in your post. It's a little tricky the first few times.

After you insert the image delete everything except the line starting http.... and ending ....jpg

Enclose that line with the IMG tags which look sort of like this [ img ] and [ /img ] (except there are no spaces inside the brackets).

My images seem to work best when I put them on a line by themselves, like this..

[ img ]http . blah-blah . jpg[ /img ]

Try editing your post and fixing those IMG tags -- it looks like you have an extra line break inside the tags at the end of the filename. And remember, no spaces inside the brackets; I have to put them in here so you can see the tags.

Don't give up, you'll get the hang of it...

OK, here is a second try to upload my photo.




With all the nice prexie collections shown, I'd like to add just two $1 stamps I have. What I have not been able to determine is whether or not the used one is the 1954 reprint w/USIR watermark. I have dipped it and can see no clear watermark. The color is vastly different than the mint #832 on the left. Yet, it may be no more than a color variation of #832.

you have no idea how long it took me to be able to upload pictures a couple months I finally got a call from oldtriguy 1960 who walked me through it step by step what a nice guy there are some great people on this site so enjoy and welcome

What you probably have is a Scott #832 color purple and black. The USIR watermark is also a purple and black Scott #832b. Now for your second stamp this would be a Scott #832c color red violet and black. So yes, it is a color variation.

To identify the USIR watermark first it would be the purple and black type then it would still need the watermark. Hope this might help with identification.

When I was growing up I went to the post office wiyh an uncle when he bought a few stamps. It was in 1958 and I saw him buy 1927 15c br air mails. I noticed plate blocks of the dollar value prexies available also. I was in the stamp club in high school so I had some idea about them. He knew I collected stamps so he bought me a few blocks of the 1/2 & 1c values. Oh how I wish I had $20 back then to get a pb of the $5. Anyway I'm sure we all have "if only" stories.

May I ask what a color alternate prexie is and how expensive are they to buy because it seems you need them to have a complete set of prexies.

Just to show my 1939 Prexie coils:

I recently "roamed" into unfamiliar territory and got hooked for a few weeks on the Prexies.

I started sorting and removing prexies from my childhood stamp album, my dad's stamp collection, another album, as well as a stockpile of US stamps which included a few pages of various stamps of this issue.

I weeded out the bad and put aside the best centered I could find for this page, mNH for the most part.

Finished the first page. Nothing valuable here but enjoyed putting it together and finding the best centered NH I could find for this page.
