Awesome 5$ plate block of 4. Nice centering on that piece! I got some of those dollar value plate blocks too, but not the 5$. I'll have to scan them in as well and show

Here is my Prexie shade collection:









I had the chance to pick them out of a large accumulation of Prexies I had access to. It is not as easy to do as it might seem. Many Prexie stamps suffer from poor plate wiping which leaves the white paper with a tint, and there is also the issue of toning of the paper, and both of these affect your perception of the shade of the stamp.

Some of the 8c and 11c shades were only recently added to Scott.

You'll notice I am still missing one of the 13c shades. I don't think it is scarce, I just couldn't fond one I was convinced was different among the ones I was looking thru.

You'll also notice it stops at the 25c value. I thought I found some different 30c shades, but when I looked closer I wasn't able to convince my self they were really different and not caused by the issues noted above. I do have one that is supposed to be an 830b (deep blue) that come with a photocopy of a cert for a block of 4 that mine appears to come from, but I really need to get a real cert. I should post an image in the 830b thread.

This plate block has been telling me that it needs to join this thread. It is an 830b!

This cover demonstrates a combination usage paying the double, 70¢-per-half-ounce Foreign Air Mail (F.A.M. Route 14) letter rate from New York, N.Y., on August 8, 1946 to San Francisco, CA., to Hong Kong and in China. The cover was backstop with a Shanghai machine receiving cancel on 21 August 1946. The 70¢-per-half-ounce rate was in effect for only 373days, from October 23, 1945, thru October 31, 1946.
