Hi,

Look like background missing... Background is pale without color (extremely pale gray). Just find nothing about that... Is it common?

Thank you!

You do see colour variations in this issue, although this is considerable. Nothing mentioned in Maury.

On my computer I can see some of the printing. Especially the word "Postes" is readable. I think that it means that the blue ink was missing!

Yes Peter4522... violet (or blue color) is certainly missing.

Thank you!

The London Philatelist (Volume 14) reports on the very poor quality control of these stamps' printer. As some escaped the authorities who were asked to sort through the mess, they are of interest. I can't say how many of them one would find on today's market.

Hi,

This is probably an error like this Senegal omitted stamps ( https://goscf.com/t/13016 ).

You can see the word Senegal but there is no ink :

There are lot Somali coast stamps with invert or missing center but I don't find one with background omitted.

Thank KGB

Hi, I'm not convinced it's a missing colour.

The "background" is still visible just very pale.

I think the violet colour has faded.

Maury lists the Senegal with country name omitted, but, as Nigel says, the "Senegal" in this copy is present, albeit faintly.

Hi,

At the end of this thread BeeSee say something interesting :

https://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...PIC_ID=13016

Because I have these 2 stamps in my hand I think typo can let something like a shape on the stamp. There is no ink on both; just shape.

Thank you GeoffHa!

Hi CDNum,

How do you account for these being coloured shapes, i.e. they are not just edge impressions.

Hi Nigelc,

Not easy to explain... you know since long time "I'm not an expert" :-)

I just say what I see. For me, shape look like an embossed shape on the paper. First pic is really what this stamp is... others pics just help you to see a shape wihtout color.

Thank you!
