Hi - I have about 5 pounds of 1, 1 1/2, and 2 cent KVG heads. I originally purchased them with the intention of finding flaws and ACSC catalog varieties. However, as I have started to work with the stamps, I'm finding my patience looking at all these stamps for small flaws really tests my patience while I'm more interested in the postmarks - slogans, towns, and even dates.

Question - I'm considering a collection by postmark date, but as I started into this, I realize I'm looking at over 10 years of usage. Have any of you gone down this path or known anyone that has attempted this? There are 3000-4000 possible dates for this run of stamps, a pursuit that could keep me going for the rest of my my collecting career....

Paul

Here's an exhibit based on postmark date I remember seeing years ago, but never forgot due to its creativity. It was put together by Jerry Jensen, president of the Germany Philatelic Society.

Scroll down to page 2 to see the stamp "calendars".

Jenny2U - Wow, that's an amazing effort and interesting display of postal history by this german guy . Thanks for sharing.

Paul - Now we are all waiting for your KGV's to be displayed in a similar fashion!
...or you can do what my brother is doing, he is trying to get one postmark from each single post office, stationary or travelling, that has existed (well, in our homecountry only, puuh..). He is having great fun with that collection. That's about 10.000 of them, only on Norway. Can't imagine the numbers in Australia...
Good luck

Wow - thanks, that's the type of inspiration I needed. It also gives me some ideas for the presentation on the custom album pages I'll need to make. Thanks!
