Design for this stamp is from picture of an American paddle steamer, "The Washington", 12 and one half cents was packet rate from Canada to the UK. (R. Lowe). Many constant varieties (not listed), See Argenti reference on other post of this series.

Robert, I am no judge of re-entries, but in my opinion they look like a bunch of inkspots. I have never seen this stamp before but your copy looks like a very "richly" inked copy. It is beautiful! Also, I think it could be plated because of the spots, but also because of the bottom left corner missing!

I can't tell either but wow that is a beauty. I have the stamp, but would not mind owning a set of the proofs for this issue! Does anyone know if these are engraved by the American Bank Note Company?

They all look like inkspots to me except the 3rd image which is the Guide Dot and Guideline at the bottom of the stamp.

And the last image with the tiny line thru the W. This one actually looks like a re-entry.
