I chiefly buy my stamps and cards from a handful of auction houses. In a recent sale, these caught my eye:





They meant little to me, but the description in the catalogue was fascinating:



The estimates were £10,000 each. The hammer prices? £18,500 and £19,500 respectively.

Not actually my cup of (China) tea. I was happy with my fifteen binders of ciggie cards for £150. I'd actually be scared to have anything this valuable in my possession - I can just visualise the fag ash and the vin ordinaire splattering them!
