Hello All,
Is anyone aware of an online resource on the Austrian 1850 issues that adds more detail to the individual issues, such as color and paper type. I'm not so concerned about value (at the moment); but interested in more detail than available on sites such as stamp-collecting-world.com.
Sure, I can cull ebay for examples, but that could take a while to compile a list, or purchase a Michel or Netto catalog, but I'm only looking for 1850 issues. Ferchenbauer is the best resource, but I'm not sure I'm ready to drop a lot of money on it.
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards,
seafarer

Austria 1850 issues are a highly specialized area There are frame differences ,value design differences and paper types , color shades ,premiums for watermarks . Not a issue for a novice collector .

The second link leads to a website (Austria stamp catalogue) but when I click on any of the specific categories, I get a dead link. Is the site being actively maintained?

Evidently the second link is a Deadend, and I was hoping for a goldmine.

The first link was good, I printed it out to check something when I get home.

I registered and a lot of good it did me. I'm logged in but when I click on stamp catalogue, the entries are in Chinese. And yes, I am logged on in English.

And when I follow the link above and am taken to the Austria catalogue, if I click on, say, definitives, I get the same "server not found" error message.

So now I'm registered for a site that is useless to me.

Edited to add: OK, the Chinese gibberish was in the boxes on the righthand side. I tried clicking on single line "Austria" and it did open up pages with Austrian stamps etc. and no Chinese anymore. I don't know why the gibberish on the first page that opens but at least I got somewhere when I ignored it.
