I found the below cut square in the same glassine marked Austria mentioned in a previous post..



I am hoping that someone can shed some light upon this item as well.

Your kind attention & assistance with the above will be greatly appreciated.

It is from Hungary - same design as on early Hungary regular issues.

KGB & orstampman, thank you both.

This item just did not feel like it belonged with the other Austrian items within that glassine.

I at least know where to place it within my albums (once I finally get to sorting through my Hungary stamps that is).

From the black printing on the sides and top, this looks like it was cut out of a Hungarian postal card, probably some variety of Michel # P3.

According to the Michel catalog (Europa Ost 2004/05), this postal card was issued in 1871. Reproductions were printed in 1878 and 1896.
