Greetings from Vancouver Island. Scott indicates that several of the early Netherlands issues had a range of perforations but lists only the commonest and directs me to a Specialized I do not have. I am disposing of a Netherlands collection for somebody who inherited it. Are there any perforations that have a high enough value to be listed individually (say over $25) or should I just list the collection? I would be very grateful for guidance. Michael367

Yes, some are high. The king Willem III issue of 1867 has some real nice prices. It not only has several perforations, it also comes in two types. The following issues all have several perforation differences, and some are priced very high. Up until the first Queen Wilhelmina issue several high priced varieties are possible, after that it kind of settles down. If you have a small feel for the Dutch language I would advise you try to get a NVPH specciale catalogus. One of 2010 or later would probably do fine!

Sorry. I was thinking particularly of this William 111 issue of 1867. (20130207) Not allowed by the Staff mentions different perfs. Scott does not apart from the perf 10.5. Scott mentions different numerals but gives no other information. I tried the Dutch catalogue and got nowhere. There are a lot of earlies in the collection I am asked to handle and Unless it is fairly easy to pick out anything special, I guess I shall just assume they are all the commonest. I would love to know what the different numerals are and their significance and whether any perf varieties in the 1867 are significant Michael |

Michael, I have no time for this project today. I will however try to do it tomorrow or at the latest by this weekend. Don't give up hope!

The Michel catalog has a detailed listing of types and perfs. The differences are substantial. In the 2013/2014 catalog for example the 5c blue ranges from € 2.50 to € 850.00. For reasons of copyright I guess I cannot post a copy of the Michel listings. It might help to know the existing perfs though: 12 1/2:12 10 1/2:10 1/4 13 1/2 14 13 1/4:14
To tell the difference between the two types may not be so easy not being somewhat specialized. All in all: worth looking into further. |

I thank you for your help. My problem is to know which of those perfs I should take out and sell separately for the legatee. Which Perfs? Many thanks, Michael367 |

Maybe you'll want to check your email to speed up the process...and maybe save Peter some time. |
