I've always been enamored by early Universal Postal Union postcards, many of which were produced with ornate designs, sometimes engraved, often by bank note companies. My theory is that since issuing countries knew these cards would represent them abroad, they took care to make them more visually appealing than typical domestic postcards.
Occasionally these pop up in bargain boxes and I fish them out whenever I can pick them up inexpensively. I thought I'd post some of the more interesting ones I've found.
Does anyone else collect this sort of material? I'd love to see some other similarly attractive cards. Where do you find these in catalogs?
Thank you! I look forward to seeing material from other forum members. In retrospect, the world postal stationery thread https://goscf.com/t/36613&whichpage=19#389246 might have been the place to post these, but I have other things I can add there ...
