I never tried it.

One must feel confident enough in their philatelic knowledge to make such an attempt, but I do find such quite interesting & enlightening.

The above statement alludes to what think is one of the great benefits and joys of joys of exhibiting--it forces me to learn more about the material and subject matter I may want to exhibit. I believe this is one of the great fringe benefits or perks of working on an exhibit. Even if I end up deciding to not exhibit that specific material or subject, I've learned a great deal I didn't know before. Great satisfaction.

Rugface has my views summed-up nicely. I have found exhibiting to be a great way of getting my material mounted and, yes, I always learn a lot more about what I own along the way also.

I have received high awards and much lesser awards too, but in all honesty the greatest pleasure for me is not the medal, but sharing what I own with others. 'Hovering' around your exhibit and pouncing on the poor unsuspecting viewer of your stuff often yields new information, such as "I've got that one in blue", or whatever.

I think that exhibiting is absolutely not for everyone, and that's fine, but for anyone thinking that they may like to have a go...do so. And always go to the judging critique if offered. Gone are the days when the judge wants nothing more than to point out all the faults, for let's not forget, they are collectors also and I have found that they are always willing to share their knowledge and ideas.

There is a growing trend at national level, in England at least, for the One Frame display of 16 pages. I defy you not to have within you the ability to create such an exhibit. Go on, you know you want to. Good luck!

Point well taken.

At our club show in Nashville, our president encourages one page exhibits. You aren't going to win, but it encourages you to dip your toes in the water so to speak.

Heck, at one page, one of my six-year-old twins is considering entering.
