So is this miscut enough to mean something? If so, how bad does a mounting hinge damage it. What year is this one?

It would be a badly perforated stamp and not mis-cut. Probably worth quite a bit less than a well centered one. I believe it is from plate 183 but the photo is unclear...if plate 183 then it would have been printed in 1875. Stamp hinges would not harm the stamp if done correctly.

dont try to pull hinges off, thats were the damage comes in. if you want the stamp off the album use your tongs to get it off the album hinge and all then you can soak the hinge off.

everything is so sensitive in stamp collecting. Cut a little more to the left and you have something, cut where it is, you have less than normal.
