Recently inherited a "stamp collection". About a thousand stamps or better. Bought an album but I can't find any of the stamps in the album. The collection of stamps goes all the way back to 1953. I'm very interested in organizing this, but seem to be lost.

Post a scan of some of the stamps and someone here will gladly help point you in a direction. Nice to hear you have an interest. This is a great place to help get a good start. The local Library should also have a copy of recent Scott Catalogs you can look through. You didn't mention if the stamps are US or Worldwide. That will also be helpful to point you better where you can find more information. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
