Oslo's Vigeland Park Bridge

If you did not like that Tom of Finland stamp, you ain't gonna believe what's coming next.

Football (soccer) practice using babies for balls would be my first guess! A little weird, even for my tastes in modern art.

Four-ball football? Could he be rejecting fatherhood?

ha ha Ikey P, I understand your amusement with Vigeland perfectly!

He's quite renowned in Norway, tough many do not understand why he has been granted a large park all 'for him self' in the middle of our capital. And many - especially tourists - are kind of shocked by his art. Guess that was some of his intention as well (?)

Please allow me to put Vigeland into a 'philatelistic' content.
Vigeland did not only figure 'bad-asses' in his monuments, like these lovely ones:


Over here 'everybody' are familiar with this tiny little monument called 'Sinnataggen' (meaning approx "angry little fellow"):


Which has also been pictured on a Norwegian stamp:



Vigeland became famous for how he captured the human feelings in his monuments. Interestingly for stamp collectors - he also aroused the US post! The US denied to accept any letters carrying these stamps:


The stamps were issued to celebrate the international year for women - and over here our postal authorities thought 'liberated women' to be a good symbol for the womens year. US post did not approve the 'naked' women...

Vigelands stuff has been pictured on several other Norwegian stamps as well.
