Has anyone ever tried this quiz before? Although it may not be directly related to stamps, I suggest that philatelists would be most sensitive to such subtle color variations because of their collecting discipline. (Of course, the quality of one's monitor may affect the results). Surprisingly, I just took the quiz and got an A+!

Yes, I got an A+ too, equally surprising with my dodgy eyesight. It didn't tell me which ones I got wrong though, but I suspect it was the different colour of "black." I guess a lot of it is down to the screen you are using and the amount / style of ambient lighting.
Are stamp collectors any better than anyone else at distinguishing different shades? |

Interesting quiz. Thanks, wt1.
I hadn't expected to do well on it, because I'm very bad at identifying color shades. Turns out I got all of them correct, although I had to spend extra time viewing 2 of them.
I now realize that I don't have too much problem noticing DIFFERENCES. My main problem is actually identifying the proper name for the color shade I'm seeing (not comparing differences). Unfortunately, when IDing stamps, identifying the color shade is what's important, not just noticing that the color is slightly different. |

Hmmm ... I got A+ as well, even though I guessed on the last one. So I went back, took the test again & deliberately missed several. I was then told that I aced the test. Not exactly an objective test. |

I guessed on at least 5 of the questions and received an A+. I don't buy it. |

From the posts above, it sounds like you can miss one or more and still get an A+. I don't know what their cutoff for A+ is.
On mine, it specifically said that I had gotten every one of them correct; and I'm pretty sure I did. However...
I did some more "testing". I entered the correct answer for the first 4 easy ones, then entered the last color for the remainder. It said I aced the test and scored in the top 6%. That tells me that they use terms like "aced" and "A+" very loosely. Maybe they are just trying to up their Facebook stats?
Then I retook the test and entered the last color for ALL of them, including the first 4 easy ones. It said I "FAILED".
So it does look like they are checking the answers, but giving a lot of leeway on what constitutes doing well. However, when I did try, but it did state specifically that I had answered correctly on all of them. |

I'm with khj on this one, reminds me of the 'what color is this dress' that circulated a few months ago. Doing a color test on a varying monitors seems dicey at best although some might argue that this test is relative. During the 'dress color' popularity there were a lot of Facebook posts about testing colors to determine if you were a dichromat, trichromat, or a tetrachromat (2,3 or 4 types of cones respectively). But researchers at Newcastle University came out and said that computer screens do not provide enough color information and "it is therefore impossible for an online test to investigate tetrachromacy." I took the test, but didn't get a letter grade. I got this: Those of you who got "A+" -- did it give you any indication of how many you missed, or a percentile? |

They are using some PHP and Google analytics in the coding of this page, so chances are they have many messages and rotate them at end of test. Edit: In other words they are looking to generate a lot of traffic and 'likes'. |

That was an interesting quiz. I know I am color sensitive after collecting so many stamps for 47 years, so my discerning eye was 100% correct. |

"Retake this test with your glasses"
Sorry, but glasses do not correct color vision. |
