Hello everyone. I am new to this forum but have been collecting stamps and coins for a while. I recently bought a collection of stamps and found these two New Zealand stamps that were not listed in the Scott's Stamp Catalog or anywhere online.

They are both 1p on 1/2p overprint one of which is mint condition and the other used. The book and online only shows examples of this overprint on the green stamp but clearly both of mine are brown!!

Please let me know if you can find these stamps in any kind of catalog and if you think they are rare!!

I found this stamp on www.stampworld.com and it is a 1953 overprint on a much earlier stamp. It must not be rare, it's retail price is 11 cents!

"In September 1953, an over-supply of ˝d brown George VI stamps were surcharged 1d to use them up." (The King passed away in early 1952.)

The original stamp without overprint was produced in 1938. In 1941 the brown and green stamp was overprinted as a provisional (see below) and then again in 1953 they were overprinted again as a Provisional. Not much value though - pictures taken from NZ catalogue.

They may not be worth much on their own, but they sure do good as FDC's!

They are both listed in ACS cat at 50c (NZD). #273. The offset 1d is interesting - not sure if that slight offsetting is rare - it might be desirable to someone. I would certainly like it if it was on a cover.
