I don't collect Postage Dues as such, but when I see a nifty item with them, I won't always turn it away!

Picked these up today at WALPEX. Not sure if I am going to keep them, though. Both from Newark NJ.

Why would anyone need to owe THAT MUCH postage??

postage due bill for a company, I have seen them in the 100's. Picture if you company sent out those postage paid return cards the Post office would give them their stack of cards and collect the postage due bill with them so it wasnt for 1 package.

If you think this is a lot of postage, I have seen these used with full sheets of $5 values.

OH! I think I get it now. Instead of writing a check for reply cards, they actually paid "via postage due". Seems like a lot of work!

Nells, I can not post a link to the thread, but go to the thread "Business Reply Mail" for a whole bunch of 5 dollar postage due stamps.

As a history buff, I always find it fascinating to explore the history of the firm noted in this thread...G.W. Carnrick Co. (a/k/a George W. Carnick) who was a mail order medicine firm back in the day with all kinds of products, this being one of their ads:

Even as early as 1934, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) called out note to the company as being a peddler of products that had little or no medicinal value:
