I recently started collecting stamps and I got an album to put mine in. Unfortunately all of the pages in the album only go up to the mid-seventies. I have been looking for newer pages that I could put into the album but I have not found any for my album that match the pages I have already. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the album and where I can find pages for it. It is called the American Stamp Album and says Stars and Stripes on the cover. I will try to get pictures of it.

mc j, I assume that's the album published for the Bicentennial by Treat. I'm not too sure it ever published further pages. Still, you could shift to any number of other albums that continue to offer supplements each year. How are your pages bound?

Not sure exactly what album you have from the description. Who is the publisher? There are 2 common "American Stamp Albums" .... 1) The All American Stamp Album from Minkus; 2) The American Album for United States Stamps from Scotts. Are either of these you version?

The album is the one from Treat. The pages are bound together by two straight metal rods like a binder with out the middle ring. I will post pictures of the album soon to show what I am talking about.

Here is a picture of the album cover.

Here is a picture of the metal binding rods.

This is one of the rods up close.

And this is a picture of one of the pages.

"Treat" albums appear to be published by Grossman Stamp Co., Inc. which seems to have gone out of business in the mid-1980s. I too look forward to seeing an image of our album.

I don't know when I last saw that kind of binding! It you measure the height of the page and the distance of each hole from top and bottom, perhaps we can find another company's supplements that would fit. My suspicion, though, is that you'll need a new binder for the supplements. (That doesn't seem too bad, does it?)

Not to further increase you deliberations.... but this might be a good time to re-think your entire album strategy.

There are TONS of threads on here about albums, pages, Vario sheets, hingeless albums, buying vs. printing-your-own, etc.

Use the search feature at the top of the page. Also, do a quick search for Steiner -- use the drop down to specify the Philatelic Book, Reference, Supply and Software forum.

A little research now will save you a lot of work in the future.

Keep asking questions. We love to talk about this stuff and you can learn from our mistakes

I've been satisfied with the Mystic Heirloom Album. Supplements are $5.50 a year.

mc jenny,

I second sdtom's recommendation. I have a number of MYSTIC Heirloom binders to house my collection 1900 to 2014. You can purchase a "beginner's" 3 volume set for about $40 plus shipping., If you decide to stay with the hobby, you can later upgrade to the Heirloom binders. The pages are the same for both.

I like the look of the Mystic album and I think I might get that to use instead.
