The November-December issue of the

Estus, who investigates the postal history of the gorge, which became a popular tourist destination in the late nineteenth century. The article is rounded out with numerous covers with related corner cards, postcards, and illustrations by Seneca Ray Stoddard, a Glens Falls, New York, photographer, travel writer, and publisher whose pioneering work created post bellum tourism in the Adirondack Mountains.
In "Roosevelt's Tree Army: Covers from the Civilian Conservation Corps, 1933–1942," Charles Epting describes his quest for physical evidence of the thousands of young men who participated in the Depression work relief program. Remarkable, very few covers to and from these men exist. Epting is the 2014–2015 USPCS Young Leadership Fellow. A short sidebar, "CCC Covers and Ephemera Online," round out the main article.
Expanding Epting's article is this issue's featured video: "New Deal Philately: Collecting Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Response to the Great Depression." He made this presentation at APS StampShow 2015 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Steve Swain, in a whimsical turn of mind, poses the question: "Could You Win Stamp Collecting Jeopardy?" No peeking at the questions until you deal with the answers.
The
Stamp Insider welcomes a new columnist. Gary Dickinson,
First Days Canada columnist from British Columbia, will be writing about British North America philately in "Postcard from Canada."
Regrettably our resident cartoonist, Stan Burdick, has had to put down his pen due to ongoing health problems. His entire run of forty panels has been turned into a small booklet and is available for viewing in PDF or PageFlip format in the website's Virtual Programs section.
