Winter is coming and I don't get out much in the snow anymore. I've been thinking of a project for our long season of cold and snow and I'm considering making a printer's cabinet for the stamps I want to fiddle with and haven't placed in an album. It would look something like this, though with fewer drawers. Does anyone have experience with something like this? I'd hate to leave something neat out of the design. EDIT: Oh ... and mine won't look as nice.

The cabinet looks nice, but might the drawers be too narrow? I decided to "organize" for the winter and put all lots I have yet to work on in one place - using shelves and shoe boxes. It's a temporary solution and not very elegant, but at least I can find anything in minutes |

Nice cabinet. The organizational effort of others always interests me since I am over the top on this subject!
Interesting side note on the source of the terms 'upper case and lower case' when noting letters in the alphabet. When typesetting methods were still in use, upper case (capitalized) letters were generally stored in the upper drawers and lower case (non-capitalized) letters were stored in the lower drawers. Don

The coin people would give you hundreds for that thing, not sure how much it would help for stamps, I have most of mine in file card boxes. |

The coin people are always warned never to store coins in wooden boxes lol. It causes the coins to tarnish quickly! |

Jenny's system looks to be more than an adequate system. A little bit of labeling on the boxes would help. |

Tom. it's a super temporary solution. I just wanted to gather all my to-be-worked-on lots in one place. Now that I know what I'm dealing with, I'll probably purchase some decorative boxes to disguise store these lots according to type. After sorting, my dream would be to have one of these: |

One of my ideas is to hinge the top so that it could be lifted to reveal a display cabinet (covered with safety glass.) |

For a cool feature, maybe all drawers have a lock mechanism, and then you have a hidden spring loaded drawer to keep the key in at bottom. That would be slick! |

Jenny, Geoff: You don't worry about temperature changes & condensation in the plastic tubs? |
