on the 1951 and 1955 British Stamp, # 126

on the stamp pictured in the book and on the actual stamp, it has
1 1/2 d
&
2 d but in the listings they all have a p behind the denomination,

Is there a reason for this?

Thank you for your time.

The pence symbol was d, from the Roman (Latin) denarius.

I wonder why Scott doesn't use "d", as that easily differentiates £sd from decimal currency?

I do not see why there should be any confusion .

Prior to 15th Feb 1971 we used the L.S.D. system with 240(d) pence to the pound.

After decimalisation we used 100(p) pence to the pound.

So on the 14th Feb 240(d) pence = £1 and on the 15th 100(p) pence = £1

What is confusing about that
